Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a very safe procedure for most people, but there are a few instances where MRI cannot be performed. Please inform your physician if you have brain aneurysm clips, metallic foreign bodies in the eye, very recent surgery, cardiac pacemakers, cochlear implants, internal neural stimulators, TENS Unit, insulin pumps, permanent eyeliner, or other implants. These implants may interfere with MRI or may present a hazard.
No special preparation is required prior to the MRI exam. You may eat normally and take your regularly prescribed medication unless otherwise directed by your physician. BE PREPARED on the day of your study. Please do not wear earrings, necklaces, rings, watches, bracelets, or other jewelry. Wear natural fiber clothing without any metal clips - a cotton sweatsuit is a perfect choice. Patients having head scans should not apply any hair care products on the day of the exam.
